Ericsson is a well-known, leading global telecommunications company with offices located around the world. Their Marketing Unit for North Western Europe (MUNWE) handles all the internal communications for Ericsson and is also in charge of running their company events.
the objective
Ericsson wanted an internal calendar for their staff to view up-coming events in a friendly and informal way. Rather than sending out emails or simply listing the events on their intranet, this calendar needed to be designed in a simple and fun way. It also needed functional for both event management and the staff using it.

the solution
We created the friendly ‘Wheel-O-Calendar’, which uses a Flash based wheel for the months and days of the year. The ‘Wheel’ is located on the Ericsson intranet, which is accessible by all Ericsson employees.
Events are detailed with images on the right-hand side and these are updated by Ericsson’s event team. These updates are done simply by using the customised content management system, or by uploading an event direct from Outlook. Users can view the wheel and events, as well as add them to their own personal Outlook diary with the click of a button.
the result
The wheel is a huge success within Ericsson, with staff finding out all the information they want in a simple way. The management team are able to update and view it easily, saving them time for promoting events. By keeping to a simple design with a clear goal, Beaver and Ericsson have created a useable calendar which can be expanded throughout all of Ericsson.
