Print Expertise from Dave Suter

Meet Dave (our Dave…not the film). Dave is our resident print expert and last week created a few of new leaflets, posters and banners for local company Natural Health and their new venture – Healing Bamboo.

Dave has nearly 40 years in graphic design, print and artwork creation, and is one of the co-founders of Beaver Design in 1978. Some of our more junior staff (like those with a ‘measly’ 10 or 20 years of experience) are able to learn some old tricks of the trade from Dave, who remembers back to when graphic design was all done by hand and artwork was sent on the train.

The new promotional materials for Natural Health are to launch the UK distribution of the Healing Bamboo products, as Natural Health becomes the sole UK supplier.

For more information about Healing Bamboo, please go to www.healingbamboo.com, or if you’d like to talk to Dave about print, then just give us a call us on 0845 355 2555.

‘Invest in Stevenage’ is Online

‘Invest in Stevenage’ is a project from the Stevenage Borough Council to promote the area as a thriving and dynamic town, full of potential. Its goal is to encourage new business and inward investment to help raise the profile of the town. The new website is a key part of this project, showcasing the best of Stevenage’s possibilities with a clean, stylish and colourful design.

Beaver Design was contacted directly by Stevenage Borough Council, with a clear brief to design the branding and website for this project. After a thorough design process, the final artwork was agreed and the website was developed. Content for the website and targeted messages was developed by Paul Maguire (Magnite PR).

FRIENDLY AND INFORMAL

The visual elements for the branding and website were kept personal, with lots of pictures and simple menus. The goal was to steer clear of being too rigid or corporate, using speech bubbles and colourful pages with imagery wherever possible. As a main entry point for encouraging inward investment, the website needed to convey key messages, whilst showing the enthusiasm and strong potential of Stevenage.

DAS Business Furniture Website

DAS Business Furniture provides custom-made, marketing leading, specialised desks for trading and control rooms. Online, the DAS website is a portal to their brand and a showcase for excellence in desk solutions.

A sleek design supported by strong imagery and clean lines gives the stylish website a professional and contemporary look. Paying close attention to the balance and layout of the site, Beaver made sure that each page was not over-burdened with text or imagery, emphasising the polished style of the site.

The result is a site which reflects the DAS brand and promotes what they do with a quality web experience.

"Beaver listened closely to our requirements and helped keep the process very simple. The new site is exceptional, we have had nothing but positive feedback and would like to thank everyone at Beaver for all their hard work."

Alex Rowell, DAS Business Furniture

Quick Brochure for DAS

It started with a call last Monday, where DAS told us that they needed a new brochure for their US market by the following Friday.

Text and imagery was quickly pulled together and we designed a couple of layouts for DAS to choose from. Final artwork was created and sent to the American printers ready in time for the Friday deadline, along with some samples of recommended stock.

Simple and all in time for the weekend! Quick deadline, quick production, quick blog post.

Ginger Lillie launches online

As you may have read recently, Hertford-based fashion boutique Ginger Lillie has relaunched online! Beaver Design worked closely over the past few months with Alison Bates, owner of Ginger Lillie, to create this exciting new website.

The site is an online catalogue for Alison’s cutting-edge fashion boutique and features a full e-commerce system. The website also uses the very latest usual social bookmarking tools and blog, which are there to help visitors connect and refer their friends to the website.

The styling and design of the site is reflection of the artistic brand of Ginger Lillie and uses a simple layout to best showcase the fashion the boutique sells. In addition, this design is carried through to other services, such as Twitter.

“Beaver Design are great and have done a fantastic job of creating the boutique site for Ginger Lillie. It has all the features we wanted and with it now online, we’re looking forward to the future!” - Alison Bates, Ginger Lillie

A Thousand Words

The website is full of photos of Ginger Lillie’s wide range of products and these can all be managed, changed and kept up-to-date by Alison. On the website the photos are shown using a simple and intuitive preview tool, which means that customers can get a helpful close-up look at the clothing before adding to their basket (take a look >).

Ginger Lillie is a very visual website, so it was critical to have lots of quality pictures for people to browse through. The web is predominantly a visual experience so it’s important to make the most of that by showing off your products at their best.
